Caché Monitor is no longer for sale
Caché Monitor has been renamed and is now called SQL DATA LENS. It is still the all-in-one tool designed for InterSystems Caché and InterSystems IRIS, and it is licensed on sqldatalens.com.
Using your Caché Monitor licence for SQL DATA LENS
Caché Monitor licensees may use SQL DATA LENS at no additional charge if one of the following conditions applies:
- You are using Caché Monitor with the Enterprise Subscription.
- You have purchased a Caché Monitor Single User Professional licence on or after 1 January 2019.
In both cases the existing key continues to work, and the Navigator picks up your registered Caché Monitor connections on first start. These are the terms recorded in the official notes for Caché Monitor users.
If neither condition applies, your Caché Monitor licence does not carry over. Licensees outside these two cases were offered a discounted upgrade during the 2021 transition; that offer is no longer current. Today you can use the permanently free Free Edition of SQL DATA LENS, which needs no key at all, or buy a current licence. Historic Caché Monitor editions and licence types
Caché Monitor Professional
Unlimited servers in the Server Navigator, all export formats, Scripts Manager, Query Cloud. Two licence types:
- Single User License
- Enterprise Subscription: unlimited users, unlimited computers
Caché Monitor Home (free)
One registered server in the Server Navigator and only connections to Caché servers on the same machine (localhost). Full SQL editor, Global Browser, Class Navigator and database diagrams, CSV export. See the edition feature table.
Single User License
With this licence Caché Monitor is licensed for use by a specific user. Every licensed user is entitled to install and use Caché Monitor on one or more computers or virtual machines. The licence needs to be activated on every computer. The licence does not expire and does not need to be renewed for continued use of Caché Monitor. After payment a licence file is provided that is loaded into Caché Monitor Home Edition to convert it to the full version; the licence is also sent by email.
Enterprise Subscription
The Enterprise Subscription allows unlimited use of Caché Monitor throughout the organisation. The licence needs to be activated on every computer. The subscription expires after the purchased term and needs to be renewed for continued use. Delivery works as for the Single User License.
Trial
One package served all editions. The Professional features could be evaluated for 30 days without registration by starting a free trial from within the application.
How Caché Monitor was sold
Direct sales were processed through Share-it (MyCommerce), a payment provider for software publishers, with the licence key delivered by email within minutes of the order. Caché Monitor licences were also available through the resellers SoftwareONE, QBS Software and Vicom Computer Services. Historic order numbers from these channels are sufficient to check whether a licence qualifies for the free SQL DATA LENS upgrade.
Transferring a licence to another computer
A user cannot remove a licence activation from a computer. Send your licence details to sales@sqldatalens.com; the previous activation is released and you can activate on the new machine.
Frequently asked questions
Which Caché Monitor licences are valid for SQL DATA LENS?
An active Enterprise Subscription, or a Single User Professional licence purchased on or after 1 January 2019. Both can be used for SQL DATA LENS at no additional charge; the existing key continues to work.
My licence is older. What are my options?
Older licences do not carry over. The discounted upgrade offered during the 2021 transition is no longer current. Did the Single User licence expire?
No. Caché Monitor Single User licences were perpetual. The Enterprise Subscription ran for the purchased term and was renewed for continued use.
