BETA: Caché Monitor 2010 PDF Print E-mail

In the download section is a new release of Caché Monitor. This version is brand new and experimental, also called a BETA version! ;) I recommend that you backup you configuration files of Caché Monitor before you test and use the new release.

The new version is called Caché Monitor 2010 (1.60) because i have changed a lot and i think after some years it is time to leave the "0.xx" version range ;)

So what is new: First of all one of the bigger changes are that Caché Monitor can handle more than one Caché database driver at the same time.

With the new release Caché Monitor can use simultaneous different driver versions. To make it easier for the user Caché Monitor comes with 4 Caché Driver out of the box:

5.2

2008

2009

2010 (2010.1.0.413)

these drivers are included and configured in the installation package. All you have to do is choose the right version at the Server Properties dialog for each registered server. For all registered server this is not done, Caché Monitor use the "default" driver.

InterSystems Caché Server

This driver (and all the other) is defined in the "config.properties" the entry for the default JDBC Driver is called drv_default. If you need more driver to define or you want to switch to another driver version the config.properties is your friend.

Caché Monitor 1.60 is using a docking user interface like an modern IDE e.g. Visual Studio or Eclipse. This change is not only a visual enhancement it enables also some realy handling improvements. Now you can open and view more than one detail panels at the same time e.g. Tables-View from Server1 and Tables-View from Server2 and each of them with his own driver version.

Caché Monitor GUI for InterSystems

More Details:

- Windows 7 Look and Feel is now supported

- lightwight and faster Editor component

and many many more

The next steps are:

  • I extract all API calls to the Caché Server and place that info in an XML based configuration file.
  • Define a config file for each Caché Server version.

With this system, it should be easy to adapt Caché Monitor to new or changed InterSystems Caché releases.

Please send me your experience with this new release!
